Why hello everyone, I'm back after the better part of 18 months. Wow has it really been that long? According to the date on my previous journal entry, it has.
Well since its been so long, a little update is probably in order. After moving to Melbourne with full intentions of doing my daily B&W project and being very proactive in my photography, I soon lost my desire to pick up my camera. I'm not sure why, I just lost the excitement in shooting. This did not mean I didn't shoot any more, it just meant that I shot far less frequently and all the photos ended up sitting on my hard drive doing nothing.
Since then, I've moved house 3 times and moved job twice. I'm in a quite a creative environment at work and there is a number of very talented photographers. One in particular has been pushing me to get back into my photography and it has worked. I can't leave home without a camera again. I love it.
My style has started to change a bit. Part out necessity, part out of a need for something new. Necessity because I don't have a car in Melbourne which severely limits my ability to do sunrise photos like I used to. Out of need because I started to realise I was shooting for the viewer, not for myself. As a result, most of my photos never saw the light of day because I didn't see them fit for public consumption. That has changed. I'm now shooting for myself and I'll upload what I like, and I to be honest I don't care who and who doesn't like them as this is not a commercial endeavor, and its not a competition. I've also started shooting film again. Ah I love it.
Anyway this post is now starting to drag on and on.
Hope you are all well.
p.s I think somewhere along the line I have broken my journal template, so sorry if it looks a bit of a mess.
Cheers,
